§ 18-416. Certificates of compliance for a rental unit required.

  • No person shall operate, lease, rent or occupy a rental unit unless there is a valid certificate of compliance issued by the building inspector in the name of the operator and issued for the specific rental unit. The certificate shall be issued for each building containing a rental unit and shall be displayed in a conspicuous place. The certificate shall be issued after registration with the city and after inspection by the building inspector and shall state that the unit or units inspected comply with the provisions of this Code and state law. A certificate of compliance is valid for a period of two years from its date of issuance and must be renewed in conformity with the registration provisions of this article.
